The Decatur Police Department introduced the Summer Vacation with Decatur PD event in 2017 for the kids of Decatur. The program is late summer and consists of a full day of fun with members of the Police Department. The activities include a breakfast of donuts and milk and getting to know the officers, a tour of the police department, discussing bicycle safety, outdoor bicycle rodeo and ride, hamburger/hot dog lunch, anti-bullying awareness, hands on training with the department’s crime scene specialist, scavenger hunt and finishing the day with outdoor water activities and ice cream.
