Decatur Community Hospital is the sole acute care facility in Wise county. It was created in 1973 to enhance community healthcare delivery, and is accredited by the Joint Commission Accreditation of Hospitals Organization as meeting or exceeding the established healthcare standards.

DCH has established a progressive philosophy and has strived to provide state-of-the-art equipment along with a personal approach to the delivery of its services to the community.

DCH completed a 50,000 square foot master facility expansion and remodeling in 1996. An additional 14,000 square feet, including a new wing, was added in 1997.

DCS is committed to providing all citizens of Wise county and surrounding areas the quality healthcare they need and deserve without leaving the area.

Medical Staff

DCH enjoys the Medical Staff support of 49 physicians.

The physicians that utilize the hospital are family practice, general surgeons, radiologists, urologists, orthopedic surgeons, ophthalmologist, cardiologists, gastroenterologist, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, podiatrists and dentists.

Our 27,000 sq. ft. Center boasts a 6,750 sq. ft. Great Hall with a state-of-the-art performance stage. This Hall can be configured into an additional two rooms. There are four spacious meeting rooms with windows from ceiling to floor. Each room and reception area is equipped with internet access, separate light and sound controls, state-of-the-art AV equipment and teleconference capabilities. There is an additional outdoor pavilion with a beautiful view of the Garden area. This entire center and its amenities were designed with a meeting and event planners needs in mind.

The Decatur Independent School District is recognized as one of the finest Class 3A school systems in the state. The district has four separate school levels: elementary, intermediate, middle, and high school with over 2,000 students enrolled. Located within 60 minutes of Decatur are many higher education institutions: University of North Texas and Texas Woman's University in Denton; Texas Christian University, Texas Wesleyan University and Tarrant County Junior College in Fort Worth; University of Texas at Arlington, Southern Methodist University in Dallas, as well as Weatherford College in Weatherford and North Central Texas College--Gainesville Campus.

The Decatur Municipal Airport (8F7) is located approximately one mile north of the city historical square. The airport currently has a 3,900 by 60 foot non-precision runway with medium intensity runway lighting. The airfield also has a rotating beacon, lighted windsock, and a PAPI-2 system on active runway 17. A new Terminal Building is scheduled to be built in 2001 of approximately 2,540 square feet.

The airport is now home to 42 aircraft and diverse aviation businesses. Some of these include Wise Aviation Services (WAS), Skylane Helicopters, and Clearview Aviation. WAS is the fixed based operator who offers on-site engine and airframe maintenance, 100LL and Jet-A fuel, a flight school, and pilot supplies. Skylane Helos performs oil site surveying, aerial mapping, and power line high wire inspections. Clearview Aviation offers short- and long-term aircraft housing for most sized aircraft.

Historically this is one of the oldest airports in the State of Texas, flying and operating since 1914. The current runway was built in 1993 and resurfaced in 2001.
